Experience the New Sound of Rivertown!
All-NEW Show Premieres For 2021 - Down By The Riverside
This summer, Silver Dollar City’s newest district, Rivertown, debuts an all-new show – Down By The Riverside in the Dockside Theater! Featuring a talented group of singers and musicians known as The Rivertown Ramblers, Down By The Riverside, adds another dimension of family entertainment to the vibrant river-themed area, blending elements of Dixieland jazz and gospel to reimagine songs you know and love such as Take Me to the River, The Water is Wide, Come Sail Away, Put A Little Love In Your Heart and, of course, Oh Shenandoah!
To create Down by the Riverside, Silver Dollar City teamed with famed director Susan Draus, whose impressive credentials include both Broadway productions and popular national tours of musicals such as Billy Eliot and Mamma Mia. The team scoured the U.S. as well as internationally to handpick the musicians and vocalists that make up The Rivertown Ramblers.
Speaking about her experience directing the show Draus said, “I am so proud of everyone involved with Down by the Riverside. It has been such a pleasure to work with this staff here in Silver Dollar City - they are the very best! This cast has such poise, confidence and genuine fun. Thank you, Rivertown Ramblers, for knocking it out of the park.”
The live band includes a New York City based guitar player originally from Rome, Italy; a pianist hailing from Manchester, England; a Branson stage veteran drummer; and St. Louis, Missouri-native bassist. The vocalists, two females and one male, include both home-grown talent and cast members originating from as far away as California, Pennsylvania and Alabama and seen on stages worldwide from New York to Japan.
“Rivertown is such a beautiful area in Silver Dollar City. It’s a wonderful place to explore with your family and experience all that it has to offer, from the amazing food, to the great new ride and now our new show featuring a few of our favorite songs about rivers, water and adventure!” said Silver Dollar City Entertainment Manager Casey Robertson.
With Mystic River Falls at its heart – featuring the tallest drop on a raft ride in the Western Hemisphere - Rivertown boasts water-soaked adventure for the whole family. The area is also home to outstanding flavors, both new and classic including the Rivertown Smokehouse with slow-smoked meats and handcrafted sides and abundant seating along the mighty Mystic River. You’ll also find world-famous Clara Belle’s Cinnamon Bread proudly serving Starbucks® coffee. Down By The Riverside rounds out the Rivertown experience by adding a musical element perfectly in keeping with Silver Dollar City’s tradition of family-friendly entertainment.
"This new fun and entertaining show is the perfect addition to our all-new area, Rivertown, and continues to highlight The City as a known destination for world-class entertainment,” said Brad Thomas, Silver Dollar City Attractions President.
You can catch Down By The Riverside at Dockside Theater beginning June 1, with shows daily (except Wednesday) throughout the summer at Noon, 2pm & 4pm.
