Bluegrass & BBQ returns to Silver Dollar City

Patriotic concert May 9 marks start of America’s 250th celebration

The hills and hollers of Silver Dollar City will hum with the sound of strings and the smell of slow-smoked barbecue as Bluegrass & BBQ returns to America’s #1 Theme Park, May 7–25.

In the midst of the festival, Silver Dollar City will also launch its celebration of America’s 250th birthday with a special Celebrate America Concert on May 9 at noon in Echo Hollow Amphitheatre. The patriotic performance will feature beloved Ozarks entertainers, including Mike Patrick from Grand Country, New South from Grand Country, The Haygoods, The Presleys, Clay Cooper and The Petersons.

Named “Event of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association, Bluegrass & BBQ brings some of the genre’s most celebrated acts to Silver Dollar City stages, including Seldom Scene, Pitney Meyer, The Grascals, Carson Peters & Iron Mountain and Nothin’ Fancy. Additional bluegrass performers will appear throughout the park during the festival.

“Bluegrass is such a huge part of our musical culture here at Silver Dollar City,” said Amanda Carson, producer of the festival. “For two decades, we’ve hosted some of the biggest names in bluegrass on our stages. Add in the park’s famous barbecue, and it’s the perfect recipe for an all-American, family-friendly festival you won’t find anywhere else.”

Of course, the music is only half the story.

The City’s pitmasters will once again fire up the returning House of Barbecue, hickory-smoking festival favorites like pulled pork, barbecue chicken and beef brisket. Guests can also sample their way through the festival with fan-favorite Tasting Tickets, which include five tastes from locations across the park. Featured items include BBQ brisket kettle chips, BBQ boneless chicken wings and BBQ brisket grilled cheese, along with exclusive sweet treats such as chocolate pecan pie, banana pudding funnel cakes and peach cobbler bread pudding.
